M+ presents YOKO ONO MORNING PEACE 2015, a global sunrise gathering on the morning of 21 June 2015, referencing and celebrating Yoko Onos original work Morning Piece (1964). The event is organised by MoMA PopRally in partnership with M+ and seven other partner institutions around the world, allowing the celebration to continue for 24 hours as the sun rises in different time zones.

As part of YOKO ONO MORNING PEACE 2015, M+ has commissioned local artists Choi Yan Chi and Leung Chi Wo to create works to take place at sunrise on 21 June at the rooftop of West Kowloon Site Office. About ‘Waiting for the first beam of light ‘ by Choi Yan Chi
Participants were invited to the rooftop and remained silent until the sun had risen. Special coffee was served and participants were invited to share their stories of ‘Waiting for the first beam of light’ and have them written on the back of a small mirror.
