Paris auction house holds protest sale

Piasa shifts its strategy to focus on Modern and contemporary art and design

The Paris auction house Piasa is to hold a sale of Protest Art from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s on 28 October, timed to coincide with the Fiac contemporary art fair.

Around 300 lots will consist of work that challenges the status quo, coming from movements and political positions in art and culture including anti-design, the new left, anarchism, Letterism, punk, Fluxus and the Nouveaux Realistes. Major names featured include Ettore Sottsass, Joseph Beuys, Robert Mapplethorpe, Yoko Ono and Henri Cartier-Bresson.
